Secrets and Lies, Suspects and Spies! — Get Your Copy of Necessary Ends

Tai Randolph is no stranger to solving mysteries. With a taste for danger and a talent for amateur sleuthing, she has helped put an assortment of murderers behind bars, much to the displeasure of Trey Seaver, her partner in both romance and crime solving. A former SWAT officer with the Atlanta police department, Trey believes in letting the authorities handle complex matters like homicide.

But then the Talbot case flares back to life.

It was the crime that rocked Atlanta—actress Jessica Talbot shot dead in her Buckhead mansion and her husband, movie producer Nick Talbot, accused of the murder. It seemed an open-and-shut case…until a dirty cop's secret forced prosecutors to set Talbot free. Now, four years later, someone wants him dead, and the evidence points to the man most convinced of Talbot's guilt—Trey.

It's a situation fraught with potential disaster, the kind of case Tai relishes. With Trey by her side—and both of them in a killer's crosshairs—Tai vows to use every trick in her slightly sketchy playbook to stop a vigilante murderer from claiming a fresh victim.

Meet Tai Randolph & Trey Seaver

It all began with The Dangerous Edge of Things, the first book in the Tai Randolph/Trey Seaver series.

Though the six books in the series can be read in any order, readers who enjoy watching characters develop (especially in the romance department) will want to start with the first one. And now here it is, the freshly re-edited second edition of the e-book, including a sneak peek at the first chapter of Darker Than Any Shadow.

I’m super excited about the new covers (by the talented Karen Phillips at Phillips Covers). They really capture Tai’s energy, and the black/white/red/gray color scheme plays right into the thematic color scheming throughout the books.

You can get your ebook for Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, or at the Books2Read storefront featuring Apple, Kobo, Google Books, and other platforms. And as always, thanks for being a reader.

“If you’re wondering who can give Stephanie Plum a run for her money, meet Tai Randolph…Tai’s next adventure can’t come soon enough. She’s adorable, Trey is worthy of her and Whittle’s first foray into crime fiction is noteworthy.”

“Lockdown Blues”: A Free Story for You

It has been one of the most difficult seasons in my memory—isolating, frustrating, and heartbreaking. What is a fictional story in the face of all this real conflict? A moment of refuge? Maybe. A way to think about hard truths in safety, get our minds and hearts straight with that truth before we wade into the wide and chaotic world? Perhaps. I hope it is also a reminder that we are all connected in ways deep and strange and surprising. All connected. All of us. All.

"Lockdown Blues” is something of a locked room mystery in reverse—instead of the crime taking place in a locked room, the solving of the crime happens within four walls, with Tai and Trey stuck in his apartment on the 35th floor.

This story is available FREE for Kindle and Nook, now through all of 2020, as my summer gift to my newsletter subscribers (and to anyone who subscribes during this time—just follow the instructions when you click the link).

Be well, take care, and look out for each other.

Tai Randolph doesn’t like to be stuck inside. Not even with Trey, who can be distracting in close quarters. And especially not with spring beckoning just outside the window.

But when a simple favor turns into something more mysterious—and more challenging—Tai realizes that crime doesn’t stop during a quarantine . . . and neither does her penchant for sleuthing.
