My Tarot Terms of Service

Here are the principles I practice as a tarot reader. I put the basics for boldface for your convenience.

Privacy — I will do my best to maintain your online privacy.

When you send me an email communication, post a comment on the blog, or request a reading, you’re also sending personally identifiable information, such as your name, email address, IP address, details of your personal narrative, and other data.

I will never share or sell your information to third parties. Ever. Your email address is used for communication between you and me, nothing else.

You can find a copy of my website’s Privacy Policy HERE. By using and interacting on this website or communicating with me by phone or email or text, you are acknowledging and agreeing to all of the terms specified here. For further information, read my Tarot Code of Ethics and my blog post “What to Expect from a Tarot Reading.

I will do my utmost to personally maintain your confidentiality, but communications over the internet are never guaranteed to be 100% secure. I do not have control over what third parties intercepting our communications might do with electronically transmitted personal information. Please be aware of that not just when using my website or emailing me, but for any website and any email you send out.

As for my website, it is hosted by Squarespace and my email by Google, both of which use tracking cookies (pieces of information that a website transfers to an individual’s hard drive for record keeping purposes). Cookies are only sent back to the website that deposited them when a visitor returns to that site. Most web browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can, however, reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. If you would like to review the specific policies of these companies, you can find Google’s Terms of Service HERE and Squarespace’s Terms of Service HERE, its Privacy Policy HERE, and its Security measures HERE.

Communication and Confidentiality – I will do my best to be clear and concise in my communication and protect your confidentiality.

All client communications are confidential, and I exercise my best professional efforts to maintain the strict confidence of what you disclose to me. Information disclosed to me in the course of inquiring about, planning, or delivering a client reading session IS protected.

I exercise reasonable diligence in maintaining the confidentiality of your sessions and will not voluntarily, knowingly, intentionally, or willfully disclose your identity or the contents of your sessions with me to third parties. However, if I genuinely believe disclosure is required to: (1) prevent imminent harm or risk of harm to yourself or to another, (2) meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or (3) protect or defend myself or my business against claims or threats of claims, then I reserve the right to do so to the extent reasonably necessary. Please keep in mind that no legally recognized privilege exists between a tarot professional and client the way a privilege might exist between an attorney and client, doctor and patient, husband and wife, or priest and penitent. I nonetheless follow a strict code of ethics, which includes every reasonable confidentiality that I can extend.

Retention of Files – I will treat any data related to you with professionalism and discretion.

As a professional, I retain some information about clients. I keep professional records of email exchanges and past readings. That kind of information is gathered for my own personal use, to help me be a better practitioner. It will never be voluntarily given, shared, or sold by me to third parties.

Payments and Service Terms — I will be clear in what I deliver and how/when you pay for it.

Direct credit card and PayPal payments accepted. Please note that all payment is tendered through the third-party platforms Stripe and PayPal which are managed either through Squarespace ecommerce or through PayPal/Squarespace invoices. Neither I nor my tarot business(es) is liable for any mishandling by these third-party platforms. In the event of third-party mishandling, your claim will be with the providing platform, not with me or my business.

I dedicate my best to each and every reading I provide. Payment is not expected until after your reading has been complete and delivered to you—this includes video and email readings. All sales are final at that time.

Delivering a reading you can be satisfied with is my primary goal. If you do not feel that I delivered the service we agreed upon, I am happy to discuss this situation with you. However, there will be no refunds for readings that you believe to be inaccurate because accuracy has never been guaranteed. You are not paying for a results-oriented product; you are paying for an experience-oriented service.

As for cancellations, I understand that Sometimes Things Happen, so please EMAIL ME if you have to cancel.

To cancel an appointment, you must send the cancelation notice to me at least 24 (twenty-four) hours in advance of the appointment. Otherwise you will be bound to pay the session price even if you do not show up for your session (in emergency situations, however, I am happy to reschedule – just let me know ASAP that you need to do that).

Disclosure of Limitations — I will be honest about what I can control and what I can’t.

Legally, the tarot readings I offer are designated as “for entertainment purposes only.” Be advised that my services are only offered to those who are of a sound mind who are 18 years of age or older. By requesting my services, you are hereby verifying these terms.

A tarot reading with me should never be used in place of professional counseling. Your reading cannot offer legal, medical, business, or financial advice, nor does any portion of your reading purport to do so. You should not rely on this service to make any decision that would affect your legal, financial, or medical condition. If your inquiry involves the law, finance, or medicine, then you should seek the advice of a licensed or qualified legal, financial, or medical professional. This service cannot replace qualified mental health care. A tarot reading can only provide information for you to use at your personal discretion.

I do NOT practice fortune telling. Pursuant to applicable laws of certain jurisdictions, a person can be guilty of fortune telling when for a fee or compensation, that person claims or pretends to tell fortunes or holds him or herself out as being able to do so. I do not claim to tell fortunes, and I do not present myself as a fortune teller. For legal purposes, a tarot reading is classified as for entertainment purposes only. It is an experience-based service. The information provided to you is to be used at your discretion.

Use of Content (Including Videos and Images) — What content can be shared, how it can be shared, and who can share it.

The images on my website are copyrighted by me and/or by others – please do not copy or share them. The exception is any image of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, which entered the public domain in 2021 (you can read more about that at The Wild Hunt’s very interesting article on the subject).

Quoting passages from this website is fine. A quick credit or link back to this site is appreciated, but not necessary.

And – of course – any information shared with you during the course of your reading (including emails and videos) is yours to do with as you see fit.

On that note, I do offer video conference consultations or sessions through third-party platforms such as Zoom. Should you choose, these video sessions may be recorded—you will always be notified in advance of the recording and can change your mind at any part of the process. You are entitled to a copy of the video recording. Before consenting to a video session, please bring any questions or concerns you may have to my attention. By commencing a video session, you are consenting to the terms herein. Likewise, please be advised that you are not permitted to record video sessions without express written permission from me. If you would like to record your video session, then please ask before doing so.

Reservation of Rights — How I amend the Terms of Service

From time to time, as would be ordinary for any business, I modify the Terms of Service and reserve the right to do so at my discretion. The terms that bind you and I will be the terms applicable at the time your service was rendered.

Contact — Please get in touch if you have questions.

If you have any questions or concerns about our Terms of Service and/or company policy, please EMAIL ME.

User Agreement — I want to make sure you’re informed about my policies and comfortable with them before we do any work together.

By using and interacting on this website or sending me communications by email or telephone or text, you are acknowledging and agreeing to all of the terms above. I can promise you that as much as within my control, I will maintain confidentiality and treat your personal information with the same care and respect that I would treat my own.
